Samsung May be Developing a Mobile Browser

There are so many different web browsers available – but when it comes to mobile web, users (usually)  browse on the one that comes built into their mobile device. Chrome and Safari are among the most common browser used on smartphone devices. However, it seems Samsung may be adding a new mobile browser to the mix.

According to a recent CNet article, Electronic Times in Korea reported that Samsung is developing its own WebKit browser for mobile devices:

Samsung is gunning for Safari and Chrome with its own web browser for the Samsung Galaxy line-up, reports say.

…Samsung has advertised for WebKit developers with knowledge of browsers to work at the Advanced Software Platform Lab at Samsung’s US research and development centre in Silicon Valley.

WebKit is an open-source browser engine, which also powers Safari — the default browser on Apple mobile devices — and Chrome, Google’s browser.”

Although Samsung hasn’t commented on the news, we may be seeing a Samsung browser in the near future. What mobile browser to you like best? Share your thoughts on mobile browsing and the Samsung Browser in the comments section.
